A series of sculptural forms and small furniture, made from hemp and limestone with a smooth, matte finish. Each piece is unique, free-formed and hand crafted, made from a conscious and considered combination of hemp, lime and clay.
PROCESS
A clean, eco-responsable design.
The bio-composite material is an organic mixture of layers of hemp, lime and clay, each piece is air-dried, no energy is used in the process.
Each material is sourced in France, from the lime in Dordogne, to the clay, beewax and natural pigments in Provence.
CLEAN DESIGN
Hemp is a non toxic, breathable, sustainable and highly insulate plant.The carbon sequestration of hemp is impressive. From the moment it is planted, hemp begins to absorb carbon from the atmosphere. The combination of hemp and lime creates an organic bio-material that captures humidity.
SUSTAINABLE
Hemp crop grows in any climate and any soil. Its roots grow deep into the soil, thereby avoiding erosion. For good growth, it needs no pesticides and very little fertilizer.The carbon sequestration of hemp is impressive. From the moment it is planted, hemp begins to absorb carbon from the atmosphere.
SLOW DESIGN
Building with hempcrete is a slow design experience, it takes time and consideration, each change of season impacts the drying process.It is the beauty of slowing down and embracing each shift.
